The keto bulletproof coffee is a plain black coffee with fats added to it. Traditionally the coffee would have grass-fed butter added.
This grass-fed butter contains many vitamins and essential fats that add a healthy boost to your daily coffee.
As this concept has evolved, now days, many people prefer to add MCT or Coconut oil (or both) to their coffee, rather than the butter.
You can also purchase Coffee Booster which is a natural creamer designed for the keto bulletproof coffee.
Whichever fat is added, it doesn’t actually matter.
This is because the whole purpose is to add fat to the coffee. WHY? because this healthy fat is the fuel that the body needs when following the ketogentic diet.
Yes, this diet fuels your body with healthy fats.
Most people will have this bulletproof coffee first thing in the morning and often say that it keeps them full until much later in the day.
It is the healthy fats that allow their body to feel full.
Why do people drink bulletproof coffee?
Why have people gone crazy over bulletproof coffee?
As mentioned above, the bulletproof coffee allows you to add healthy fat into your morning routine.
This would normally be unheard of to add 2-4 teaspoons of coconut oil to your breakfast. But this method allows you to do so very naturally.
This fat is very healthy which means that it will be used by your body to create fuel when following the keto diet.
Fat is a very slow burning fuel which means that your body can use it over a longer period of time.

This in turn allows you to with-hold feeling hungry again for a longer amount of time. When you fuel your body with sugar and carbohydrates, you will feel hungry quicker due to these being fast burning fats.
This means that your bulletproof coffee can keep you full for hours and hours after waking without the need for breakfast necessarily.
When you consume your bulletproof coffee, it does not actually count as ‘eating’ on the keto diet.
Therefore, you can drink it without breaking your fast. This means that you are able to fast for a longer period of time between your dinner meal and your first meal of the day.
It is important to listen to your body and adjust timings as required around your eating. If you are hungry, you need to eat.
In fact, you should eat slightly prior to feeling hungry.
This will also aide with weight loss.
Why is intermittent fasting helpful?
We have developed a culture of eating almost non-stop!
We eat breakfast, morning tea snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, dessert, and then maybe supper. We actually spend a lot of the day eating!
An intermittent fast allows your body to physically take a rest from digesting and processing food.
It allows the stomach and gut time to rest.
This is very important
A fast is when you do not eat food for a period of time. Although this sounds very scary, we do this every time we sleep.
Keto Diet Intermittent fasting is about pro-longing this and stretching out the time you begin eating each day.
This means that the gap between your last meal yesterday and your first meal today has a large gap in between it. There are large health benefits to this.

Effects of caffeine on the body
Of course, you cannot have a bulletproof coffee without the caffeine!
Caffeine can significantly impact on some people while other people will experience a limited impact from consuming caffeine.
Again, this is about listening to your body and reading the signs of what it is trying to tell you.
If you are having trouble sleeping, shaking hands, energy spikes and lows, or feeling dehydrated, perhaps you need to review your caffeine intake.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you are likely to be having too much caffeine daily:
- anxiety and increase heart rate
- unable to sleep / fatigue
- digestive issues – laxative
- feeling weak – muscle break down
- addiction – can’t wait until your next coffee
- high blood pressure
As with everything, be aware of what your body is telling you.
Our Bulletproof Coffee Recipe
Serving: 1
Boil the kettle
Add 2 teaspoons of your favorite ground coffee into the mug (breath in the aroma!)
Add the hot water to about 3/4 full
Add 2 teaspoons for coconut oil
Add 1 teaspoon of MCT oil
optional: Add 1 teaspoon of grass-fed butter
Blend
Now, for the best Bulletproof coffee, you are going to want to blend it in a blender. Although, this is not essential it does make a much nicer blend. We suggest using a NutriBullet or similar. This will allow for a very smoother coffee.
Note: When consuming, if you have not used a blender, you made need to stir just before drinking so that you do not end up with the oil floating on the top of your drink. This is not overly enjoyable.
Enjoy!
And to top it all off…. Our favorite mugs!
And Travel Mugs:
The self stirring mugs are great because you wont get a mouthful of oil!
